FSA RETURN DATA
Since our move away from H&R Block as our software partner, the cadence of our data reports has changed. Data reports are being provided to us by IRS SPEC and TaxSlayer on a monthly basis. If you have a data question or need additional data insights please email our team.
MyFreeTaxes shares data points for MyFreeTaxes FSA filers based on the user's zip code in compliance with IRS/SPEC regulations. These reports contain data from VITA-eligible MyFreeTaxes filers to prepare their return using our TaxSlayer FSA referral link. Reports are available that summarize data by the filer’s zip code, city, county, state, and United Way service area.
Per IRS SPEC guidelines:
- Reports are available for partners to use for program operations, including reporting to funders.
- Geographies with fewer than 10 filers will not be included in the data reports to protect filer privacy.
- MyFreeTaxes data received through this reporting may not be used for marketing or communications purposes.
MYFREETAXES DATA DASHBOARD (BETA VERSION)
MyFreeTaxes is beta testing a new MyFreeTaxes Partner Portal Dashboard to provide partners with data insights on all MyFreeTaxes site users. Explore MyFreeTaxes user data by language, age, gender, device type, site visits by day, and YtD counts of FSA and full-service VITA referrals. The dashboard may be filtered by geography (city, metro, and states) and referral source (the website users were on before coming to MyFreeTaxes). Explore the beta version of this dashboard here, and submit questions, comments or feedback to us at partners@myfreetaxes.com with the subject line "Dashboard".
Partners may create their own MyFreeTaxes referral link using UTM tagging and have their organization listed as the Source / Medium for their referrals in the data dashboard. Instructions may be found here.
USING MYFREETAXES DATA
MyFreeTaxes provides data to help partners measure the impact of MyFreeTaxes in your communities of concern and empower partners to claim credit for the portion of MyFreeTaxes returns you help us achieve. MyFreeTaxes does not assign credit for returns to individual partners. Instead, partners should use the data we provide to assess their impact and claim credit for that impact in your grant and impact reports.
Are you the only partner promoting MyFreeTaxes in a specific geography? Claim credit for all of the returns associated with that geography! Are you one of many partners promoting MyFreeTaxes in your community? Use the MyFreeTaxes Data Dashboard and consider creating your own referral link to measure MyFreeTaxes impacts that result from your outreach efforts.
